Beetroot - Renova
This variety is easier for the gardener and the cook! It produces a high quality cylindrical beet with good flavour and texture and few internal rings, and is easy for slicing. Plus, being a monogerm it means less need for thinning as only 1 or 2 seedlings are produced per cm.
Sow outdoors thinly, from April to July, where they are to crop, 2.5cm deep, directly into finely-prepared, well-cultivated, fertile soil, which has already been watered. Allow 30cm between rows. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days. Thin seedlings to 10cm apart. Water well until plants are established. Regular sowings, made every three weeks, should ensure a continuous supply of young beets. Harvest from June to October.
