Chilli Pepper ‘Red Glow’ Seeds

Red Glow is a productive Capsicum baccatum chilli pepper producing glossy red fruits with a lively heat and excellent culinary versatility. The smooth fruits grow to around 7 cm long and deliver a bold but balanced heat level of approximately 27,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU).

This variety is particularly well suited to Mexican chilli recipes, fresh salsas, hot salads, and for drying and grinding into spicy soups or winter seasonings. The flavour is robust and aromatic, adding depth without overwhelming dishes.

Plants are vigorous and indeterminate, producing around 25 fruits per plant over the season. Red Glow performs reliably in greenhouses or grown outdoors in pots in warm, sheltered conditions, making it a great choice for growers seeking colour, flavour, and dependable yields.

How to Grow Chilli Pepper ‘Red Glow’

Sow seeds indoors from January to March using a heated propagator or warm windowsill. Maintain temperatures of 20–25°C for reliable germination. Sow thinly and cover lightly with compost.

Transplant seedlings into individual pots once large enough to handle. As plants grow, pot on into their final containers and provide staking or support, as indeterminate plants will continue to grow and crop throughout the season.

Grow under cover for best results, or place outdoors in a warm, sheltered position once all risk of frost has passed. Water regularly and feed weekly with a balanced or high-potash fertiliser once flowering begins.

Harvest fruits when fully red for maximum heat and flavour.

⚠️ Handling advice: Chillies are hot. Wash hands thoroughly after handling fruits and avoid touching eyes or skin.
