This lovely native rose scrambles over and through other shrubs bearing scented pale pink flowers on long prickly stems. Wildlife friendly, the blooms produce red hips in the autumn, high in vitamin C.  This plant has many uses for its fruit and leaves as a herb and for medicinal use. It grows well in most soils.

The seed is best sown in the autumn to undergo a period of cold.  Sow on sandy well- draining compost, cover with sand or grit.  Leave outside in a cool, sheltered place. Germination may be slow and erratic, be patient!
