Sweet Pepper ‘Virtue’ Seeds

Sweet Pepper Virtue is a high-quality, compact variety bred for home gardens, patio containers, and professional young plant production. Plants are neat yet productive, delivering a generous crop of large, thick-walled peppers with outstanding eating quality.

Fruits start mid green and ripen to a rich red, developing a crunchy texture and a consistently sweet, mild flavour. Each pepper weighs 120 g or more and measures around 10–15 cm long, making them ideal for fresh eating, cooking, stuffing, and roasting.

Virtue is a reliable, well-balanced variety producing 10+ fruits per plant on compact plants that reach around 55 cm tall. Best finished in 16 cm pots, plants require support as fruits develop and are particularly well suited to patio containers, greenhouses, and sheltered outdoor growing.

How to Grow Sweet Pepper ‘Virtue’

Sow seeds indoors from February to April in a heated propagator or warm greenhouse, maintaining temperatures of 20–25°C for germination. Sow thinly and cover lightly with fine compost or vermiculite.

Pot on seedlings once large enough to handle. Plants are best finished in 16 cm pots, then grown on in a greenhouse, polytunnel, or sheltered sunny position outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.

Provide support as plants grow and begin to fruit. Water regularly and feed weekly with a high-potash fertiliser once flowering starts to encourage strong growth and heavy cropping.

Harvest fruits green or allow them to ripen fully red for maximum sweetness.
