Product Description

Taylors Greenhouse Starter Kit – Beans, Tomato & Courgette

Taylors Greenhouse Starter Kit is a grow-your-own vegetable growing kit featuring three popular crops: Beans, Tomatoes and Courgettes. This combination provides an introduction to growing vegetables from seed, making it a practical choice for new gardeners and anyone looking to start a kitchen garden.

The three vegetables offer different growing experiences. Beans produce climbing or bushy plants depending on the variety, Tomatoes develop fruits for salads and cooking, while Courgettes provide a summer harvest of tender vegetables that can be used in a range of dishes.

This starter kit is particularly useful for gardeners who want to begin growing vegetables under protection before moving suitable plants outdoors. A greenhouse provides a sheltered environment for starting seeds, while the developing plants can be grown on in containers, raised beds or vegetable plots.

How to Grow Taylors Greenhouse Starter Kit

The three vegetable crops have different growing requirements, so sow each variety separately and follow the instructions supplied with the kit.

Beans

Sow bean seeds indoors from April to May in individual pots filled with seed compost. Sow approximately 4–5cm deep and keep in a warm, bright position.

Once established, gradually harden young plants off before planting outdoors after all risk of frost has passed.

Depending on the bean variety supplied, plants may need climbing supports or can be grown as compact bush plants.

Tomatoes

Sow tomato seeds indoors from February to April, approximately 0.5cm deep in seed compost.

Keep warm at around 18–21°C until germination, then grow seedlings on in bright conditions.

Transplant seedlings into individual pots once large enough to handle.

Grow established plants in a greenhouse, grow bags or a warm, sheltered outdoor position. Provide support where required by the variety.

Courgettes

Sow courgette seeds indoors from April to May in individual pots.

Place seeds on their side approximately 1–2cm deep and maintain a temperature of around 18–21°C during germination.

Grow young plants in bright, frost-free conditions before hardening them off and planting outdoors from late May or early June.

Courgettes require plenty of growing space and perform best in fertile soil with regular watering.

Vegetable Growing Tips

Start each vegetable separately to accommodate its different germination requirements.

Keep young plants warm and protected from frost.

Provide plenty of light to encourage healthy seedling development.

Avoid overwatering seed trays and young plants.

Harden off plants gradually before moving them outdoors.

Provide climbing supports for beans and tomatoes where required.

Water regularly during flowering and fruit development.

Harvest beans and courgettes frequently to encourage continued cropping.
