How to Grow Runner Bean ‘Equator’

Sowing Indoors:
Sow seeds indoors from April in individual pots using quality seed compost. Sow seeds around 5 cm deep and keep warm.

Direct Sowing Outdoors:
Sow outdoors from May to June once all risk of frost has passed and soil has warmed.

Plant in a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, moisture-retentive soil. Space plants 20–25 cm apart, with supports such as canes or a frame in place before planting.

Water regularly, especially during flowering and pod formation. Harvest beans regularly to encourage continued cropping.
