Borecole Cottagers

£1.10 – £10.85

This is a fine heritage variety featuring unusual green/purple leaves. It is extremely hardy, providing a tasty supply of leaves throughout the winter. Unlike other kales, a secondary crop of tasty side shoots up the stems in early spring.

Sow from March to July in trays or a well-prepared seed bed approximately 1.5cm deep in rows 15cm apart. Thin the seedlings to 7cm apart. They can be transferred to their final site at 60cm apart. Make sure the lowest leaves are just above the soil level to improve the plants' stability.
