Chicory Rossa di Treviso Precoce

£0.99 – £6.95

Chicory - Rossa di Treviso Precoce

This variety has long, pointed, green foliage that turns red as the weather becomes colder. The roots can be forced, like Witloof, to produce paler, tender shoots.

Sow the seeds direct in final location from May to June, and thin the plants out to 20cm spacing. They are ready to harvest from October to December. They can be forced at room temperature for about 3 - 4 weeks by excluding light. Sow in modules from February to April. To get good germination the seed requires a temperature of over 18C. Can be transplanted under cover or outdoors.
