Water Mint has the distinct mint smell, but it is much larger with distinctive lilac flowers, which are in bloom from July to later September. Flowers are particularly favoured by honey and solitary bees, as well as other insects.
The seeds can be sown at any time of the year, but need to be in a place that is constantly moist. It does not like to be walked on.
