Wild Marjoram - Origanum Vulgare
Wild Marjoram is a native perennial that grows to around 60cm high. It has purple, pink or sometimes white flowers. These flowers are attractive to butterflies. The leaves are sweetly scented. The plants tend to grow in areas that are not grazed. They are pushed out by taller growing plants so need some soil disturbance to continue growing. The seed will last a long time in the soil.
The seed can be sown at any time of the year, but the best time is in the autumn.
