GROW WITH CONFIDENCE
Herbs are some of the easiest plants to grow in containers. Choose a pot with good drainage, match the position to the herb and keep an eye on watering during warm weather. Different herbs have slightly different needs, so follow the individual growing guide for your chosen herb.
Small herbs don't need enormous containers to begin with, but perennial sage, chives and thyme will appreciate more room as they mature. Whatever you grow, make sure the container has good drainage.
Pots dry out faster than garden soil, but not every herb wants the same amount of water. Basil, parsley and coriander appreciate regular moisture, while established thyme and sage prefer slightly drier conditions.
Regular picking keeps many herbs producing fresh growth. Pinch basil, snip chives and harvest parsley and coriander as you need them. Perennial herbs can be picked more lightly and allowed to build into established plants.
