How to Grow Squash ‘Potimarron’
Sow seeds indoors from April to May in individual pots using quality seed compost. Sow seeds 2–3 cm deep, on their side, and keep at 20–22°C for germination.
Alternatively, sow directly outdoors from late May to June once all risk of frost has passed and the soil has warmed.
Plant out hardened-off seedlings into a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, moisture-retentive soil enriched with compost or well-rotted manure. Allow plenty of space for plants to spread.
Water regularly during dry periods and feed throughout the growing season to support strong growth and fruit development.
Harvest squash in late summer to autumn once fruits are fully coloured and skins are hard. Cure briefly in a dry, airy place before storing.
